Our Unique Hiring & Training Process
At Allstar, we believe in raising the standard of security services. While a valid security guard license is the basic requirement in many states, we go a step further in our hiring process. Every applicant is scrutinized meticulously by our hiring managers, ensuring only the best join our ranks. Once onboard, our security officers undergo rigorous training at our offices before being deployed in the field. After three months of fieldwork, we refresh their skills with situational role-play exercises and ongoing training, tailored specifically to the client site they have been assigned.

Executive Team
Mark Selden is a founder and CEO of Allstar Security. In this role, he provides guidance, strategic direction and handles major accounts across the country and worldwide. With almost 25 years experience in the Security field, Mark’s background includes sales, training, mergers and acquisitions, and quality assurance. He is a Board Member of the Young Presidents Organization and The Section 16H Group, and is very active in the FIDF, as well as being dedicated to many other charities.
Javier Gomez, Founder and Owner of Allstar Security Inc., launched his security career in Miami before returning to New York City. He brings extensive expertise across sales, training, marketing, and nightlife operations coordination in the security industry. Javier initially founded NEC Security, which evolved into Allstar Security, earning praise from employees for his effective leadership, flexibility, and empathetic guidance.
Michael Hesekiel, the President of Allstar, boasts a rich career in marketing and nightlife after graduating from the University of Michigan. With extensive experience in senior-level roles, Mike joined Allstar, where he excelled in various capacities, from handling contracts and bids to steering marketing and analytics. As President, Mike now supervises Allstar’s operational, training, and sales divisions, leveraging his expertise to drive the company’s success.
Angel Montanez, Director of Hotels, is responsible for overseeing all in-house hotel security operations. As Allstar’s Fire Life and Safety Specialist and instructor at ASNY Security Fire Life & Safety School, he brings over a decade of expertise in hotel security management. Angel’s training empowers security teams to advance in their careers, ensuring clients receive unparalleled service and safety. His dedication elevates standards in the hospitality industry, promoting a secure and welcoming environment for guests and staff alike.
Sean Wheeler is a dynamic leader with a background in mechanical engineering and a passion for security operations. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida, bringing a unique blend of technical expertise and strategic vision to his role as Director of Operations at Allstar Security – Florida. A native of South Florida, Sean has a deep-rooted understanding of the region’s security landscape and a strong commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of its residents. He joined Allstar Security in July of 2018 and has since played a key role in driving the company’s success through his innovative leadership and dedication to excellence. In his role as Director of Operations, Sean oversees the daily operations of Allstar Security – Florida, leveraging his technical background to optimize processes and implement strategic initiatives. He is known for his collaborative approach, strong work ethic, and unwavering commitment to delivering superior security solutions. Under Sean’s guidance, Allstar Security – Florida continues to set the standard for excellence in the security industry, providing innovative and effective security services to clients across Miami and beyond.
Sonny Kurtaj, appointed in 2022, is a retired NYC Department of Correction Captain with over 25 years of combined law enforcement experience, working in direct contact with the executive leadership, serves as the Director of Security for Allstar Security. He brings an extensive expertise in leadership, training, crisis management, investigations, consulting, labor relations and law enforcement to his role. Sonny ensures overall operational integrity, professionalism, client satisfaction, overseeing the security workforce and developing and maintaining strong relationships with all clients and law enforcement authorities. With a premier focus on safety and security procedures and strengthening productivity, Sonny conducts routine managerial field inspections and reviews of all security performance, policies and procedures, implements necessary recommendations and/or changes, and ensures all staff are properly trained and evaluated. Working in tandem with the Director of Operations, to ensure delivery of security services are effective and efficient and that Allstar Security delivers a product that consistently exceeds the industry standard. Sonny is responsible for client relations and ensuring that all clients’ individual needs are met. His dedication and in-depth understanding of applicable laws, security measures and emergency response procedures make him a trusted leader in the security industry, safeguarding Allstar Security’s clients in New York City.
With over four decades of law enforcement and security experience, Scott Rice brings a wealth of expertise to his role as Vice President of Allstar Security. As the Licensee in charge of our Florida, Chicago, and Nashville offices, Scott oversees operations and ensures compliance with state regulations. He is a state-certified instructor in law enforcement and security and serves as our school director and chief instructor, having trained thousands of students throughout his career. Known for his exceptional leadership, Scott has directed security at some of the most prestigious nightclubs and events in the country, demonstrating his keen eye for detail and commitment to safety. Additionally, he is an expert in executive protection, having provided services to numerous A-list celebrities and politicians. Scott’s reputation extends beyond security, as he is also a highly ranked and respected martial artist, embodying dedication, discipline, and excellence in all aspects of his career.
